Patterson Park Public Charter School is seeking to open a second campus within the Bayview area of Southeast Baltimore on the grounds of the Our Lady of Fatima complex. When at full capacity, Clay Hill Public Charter School (CHPCS) will serve 540 students and their families in Baltimore City. Key activities for phase one of the project include roof repair, window repair, an electrical upgrade, kitchen equipment installation, classroom and corridor improvements, bathrooms and health suite upgrades to become ADA compliant, as well as internet and technology installation. This grant will help with construction costs in preparation for opening of the new charter school in fall of 2021.

The purpose of the program is to support newly hired teachers by implementing enhanced music curricula that meet state and national standards, and to increase the retention rate of music teachers.

For continued support and expansion of the Music Teacher Mentoring Program for 87 new and recently hired elementary and middle school teachers for the 2006-2007 school year. The program upgrades teachers’ classroom techniques and strategies by providing demonstrations, workshops, video-taping, and one-on-one coaching in the classroom. The goal is to implement enhanced music curricula that meet state and national content standards, and to increase the teacher retention rate.

For continued support and expansion of the Music Teacher Mentoring Program, including staffing to provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development of approximately 75 new and returning music teachers at 70 schools. The two Peabody mentors offer expanded scope and sequence to the music curriculum, more age-appropriate materials and lesson plans, strategies on effective classroom management skills, and new methodologies to encourage greater student engagement and improved classroom behavior. The goal is to implement enhanced music curricula that meet state and national content standards and to increase the rate of teacher retention.
