Combining Philanthropy with Communication
Inherent in the working philosophy of the Abell Foundation is the strong belief that a community faced with complicated and seemingly intractable challenges is well-served by research-based information. To that end, the Foundation—combining philanthropy with communication—continues to publish background studies of selected issues on the public agenda. In each case, experts have been retained to research and write, and the Foundation has distributed their findings to government officials; leaders in business, industry and academia; and the general public. The Abell Foundation aims to provide thought-provoking perspectives on issues affecting the community at large.
Our publications fall into these categories:
Abell Report: The signature publication of the Abell Foundation, Abell Reports are background studies of selected issues on the public agenda.
Abell Salutes: These short pieces shine a spotlight on an organization, individual or program that is doing great work in the city.
Abell Brief: The Foundation’s quarterly e-newsletter, the Abell Brief is a vehicle for disseminating Abell Reports, Abell Salutes, and the research endeavors of our grantees.
Annual Report: The Foundation’s annual report of grants and financial statements.
