TurnAround, Inc.
TurnAround provides comprehensive, trauma-informed services to survivors of domestic and dating violence, sexual abuse and assault, harassment, and human trafficking in Baltimore City and County. This grant supports TurnAround’s anti-trafficking program, which provides emergency and supportive services to survivors of sex trafficking. The program offers safety planning, emergency shelter, intensive advocacy, case management, group and individual counseling, and connection to basic human needs like food and clothing.
Advocates for Children and Youth
Advocates for Children and Youth (ACY) is an independent organization dedicated to promoting the interests of children and families in Maryland through research, policy development, community outreach, media relations, and government relations. ACY is one of the leading champions of policies in Maryland that advance the interests of children across a broad range of issues, including education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and health care. This grant supports ACY’s child welfare program, which focuses on the needs of foster and homeless youth in Maryland.
Baltimore Community Rowing
Reach High Baltimore, a project of Baltimore Community Rowing, was founded in 2011 to bring the sport of rowing to Baltimore City middle and high school students. The program provides programming year-round and serves about 125 students a year. This grant supports the program’s efforts to increase enrollment from the neighborhoods closest to the Baltimore Rowing Center, by funding a second bus route, which will provide transportation to students living in Cherry Hill and Westport.
Benefits Data Trust
Benefits Data Trust (BDT) is a national nonprofit organization that assists low income individuals to access state and federal aid programs to meet their financial needs. BDT leverages partnerships with government agencies to conduct outreach to individuals who may be eligible for government assistance programs that they are not currently receiving. Using highly trained screening and enrollment staff and customized technology, BDT screens these individuals to assess their eligibility for a range of public benefit programs, and assists them to enroll in those programs for which they are eligible, helping to lift them out of poverty. This grant supports BDT’s Maryland Benefits Center.
HealthCare Access Maryland
HealthCare Access Maryland (HCAM) is a critical healthcare non-profit that enrolls Maryland residents in health insurance and provides care coordination to special populations. Due to Covid 19, HCAM employees began working remotely in March 2020. This grant enables HCAM to purchase laptops for employees who currently are not able to telework, specifically those staff members who verify Medical Assistance applications for eligibility and provide health care coordination for children placed in foster care.
