The Community Power Network

Toward efforts to develop two community solar projects in Baltimore City designed to demonstrate the potential of solar renewable sources accessible to city residents. These two solar installations will be constructed over a newly installed walk-in cooler at the Civic Works’ Real Food Farm and on a replacement roof of a Baltimore City Public School.

The Compound

$200,000 / 2018 / Community Development

Located in Baltimore’s Midway neighborhood, the Compound is a 20,000 square foot multi-purpose cultural space on one acre of land that provides affordable housing to 10 working artists, affordable work/studio space to 24 artists and artisans, and employment and training opportunities to Midway residents. Residents and tenants are part of the Baltimore DIY art and music scene and the Compound became known as a venue for innovative music and cultural events. As a part of efforts to preserve the Compound, in combination with State of Maryland funding, improvements will be made to bring the buildings up to code.

The Compound

Located in Baltimore’s Midway neighborhood, the Compound is a 20,000 square foot multi-purpose cultural space on one acre of land that provides affordable housing to 10 working artists, affordable work/studio space to 24 artists and artisans, as well as two worker-owned cooperatives and two nonprofits, the Alternative Press Center and the Black Workers Center. Residents and tenants are part of the Baltimore DIY art and music scene and the Compound is known as a venue for innovative music and cultural events. The Compound will renovate four adjacent rowhouses to expand and create 16 new affordable live/work spaces.

The Door/Baltimore Urban Leadership Foundation

$10,000 / 2011 / Community Development
Toward support of the Supplier Development Program, a pilot program to foster linkages between local suppliers of goods and services, and local institutional purchasers.

The Harbor Bank of Maryland Community Development Corporation

$50,000 / 2018 / Community Development

In support of the Joseph Haskins, Jr. Center for Economic and Community Development.
