As Vice President, Andy oversees grants administration and communications, and leads the Foundation’s efforts to produce research that shines light on issues facing residents of Baltimore City. He works collaboratively with Abell colleagues, journalists, academic researchers, community leaders, and communications professionals to guide Abell Reports through development, publication, and into the public sphere.

Andy came to the Abell Foundation from Johns Hopkins University, where he was vice president for communications. Before that, he had a long career in journalism, including 18 years at The Baltimore Sun, where he was the editorial page editor from 2009-2019. Andy has a degree in English and American Literature and Language from Harvard College, and he lives in Baltimore City with his wife and three children.
